Thanksgiving Turkey Craft with Hand and Foot Prints

We have been doing some more decorating for Thanksgiving. We have already made Thanksgiving Spice Handprint Turkeys. When I saw the cute Thanksgiving Turkey Craft from All Kids Network, I knew it would make a great addition to our Thanksgiving decorations.

To make this Thanksgiving hand & foot print turkey craft, you will need construction paper in red, yellow, orange and brown, some googly eyes and something for the beak and wattle.

We started by tracing Sammie’s hand a few times on each colour of paper. She was having trouble cutting them out without cutting the fingers off, so I cut the handprints out for her.

Next, Sammie traced around her foot and she cut it out.

Once we had the hand and foot prints cut out, Sammie started glueing the hand prints to the back of the foot print, with the fingers showing on either side of the foot print to look like feathers.

The heel of the foot print is the head of the turkey and the toe end is the body of the turkey.

Sammie wanted to glue all the hand prints on one side of the foot print, with all the fingers sticking out the same side lol. I had to convince her that her Thanksgiving turkey craft would look better with feathers on both sides of the body lol

She picked out two googly eyes for her turkey. They had to be the ones with eyelashes, as she said her Thanksgiving turkey craft is a girl .

We used a yellow coloured pasta noodle for the beak. You could use a triangle piece of construction paper instead. Sammie didn’t want to put the red wattle on her turkey, but a piece of red construction paper would work.

I forgot to find something to use for legs and feet and Sammie was quite happy with it, even though it doesn’t have legs lol. If I had remembered legs and feet, I probably would have used yellow construction paper cut into an upside down Y shape.

Sammie had fun making this craft. She really liked tracing her hand and foot.

This Thanksgiving turkey craft makes a cute addition to our Thanksgiving decorations. It makes a great keepsake too. I think I may have to make one using Austin’s hands and feets as well. Maybe I’ll start a tradition of making these every year at Thanksgiving and seeing how much their feet and hands grow from one year to the next.
