For our sponge painted leaves, I cut a sponge into small approximately square pieces. I put some red, yellow and orange paint in a tray, with a sponge piece for each colour. THe girls drew their tree trunks with brown crayon.
I love the faces that they put on the trees.
Then they used the sponges to print leaves onto their trees. They did some on the trees, some falling and some on the ground.
After they finished their trees, Sammie wanted to make one with her fingerprints as leaves. So she drew another tree trunk and dipped her fingers into the paint to make fingerprint leaves.
The girls had a lot of fun making their sponge painted leaves. I even joined in to make my own sponge painted leaves tree
I think if we make these paintings again, I might try to cut the sponges into different shapes or at least more of a leaf shape.
